What does it look like in Reception?

Personal, Social and Emotional Development is one of the ‘core’ areas of the EYFS 2021 Curriculum. It underpins all the learning, activities and interactions within the classroom, and other areas of the school. Children are supported to identify and name their emotions and to seek help, either verbally, or by using the class Zones of Regulation display. They are encouraged to see themselves as valuable individuals, supported to build positive relationships with staff and their peers and to begin to develop perseverance when approaching challenges. This learning happens continually throughout the day. At key points in the year, there are also discrete PSHE sessions to develop an understanding of building healthy habits, e.g. teeth brushing, the importance of a balanced diet and sleep, road safety and developing healthy screen habits.
