Special Educational Needs

At Leafield C.E. Primary School, we believe all children, whatever their additional needs, can achieve with the right support in place. We aspire to understand and meet the needs of every child in our school. We believe in achievement and opportunity for all children. We recognise the importance of high-quality teaching, high expectations and early intervention.

Children are at the heart of everything we do, and we work as a team to support all children and their families to achieve ambitious learning outcomes. We value the positive impact that parents and carers have and see you as an integral part of this team. For children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), we use a graduated response based on a cycle of - assess, plan, do and review.

The Special Educational Needs and/or Disability Coordinator (SENDCo) at Leafield is Grace Challans, who is supported by the SEN Assistant Ash Fox, who can both be contacted via the school office on 01993 878 273 or senco@leafield.oxon.sch.uk.

We are passionate about supporting children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing at Leafield C E Primary School. Our SENDCo holds an Enhanced Diploma in Mental Health, we have a member of staff undergoing Mental Health Practitioner training and an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) who work collaboratively to provide early intervention for children struggling with low mood and/or anxiety.
